I’m Serhiy Shalashenko, a graphic and web designer, photographer, video producer, digital marketing specialist, and art director with over 15 years of experience in the industry.
I was born on September 24, 1987 on the shore of the Black Sea in Odessa, a major port city in the south of Ukraine. Since childhood, I have been developing my skills in various areas and had a passion for creativity. I attended an advanced photography course for three years and studied at a music school for seven years. I also engaged in several sports activities such as kayaking, football, tennis, boxing and skiing.
I began my career in the IT industry at the age of 16 as a webmaster, developing, promoting, and maintaining a tourism company’s web portal. I worked as a technician at an internet service provider before becoming an IT engineer at Ukraine’s largest port, with a workforce of over 3000 people.
I eventually transitioned into the role of Art Director at the same company, contributing to the port’s international development with world-renowned corporations such as Cargil, Maersk, and P&O through my marketing and design work.
I also had the opportunity to showcase my skills at Ecofactor, where I handled marketing and design, including designing the showroom for electric cars, including Tesla. I conducted a marketing campaign for the manufacturer of electric car charging stations.
Additionally, I provided design services as a self-employed entrepreneur, founding and managing the company Veldan Design, where I oversaw a team of five employees.
But then, 24th of February 2022… The full-scale military aggression by russia against Ukraine was just too much to bear. I started to do more volunteer jobs and finally made the decision to shut down my business and take my family to a safe place and relocate to the UK. I am deeply convinced that light always triumphs over darkness, and in dark times, bright people should shine even brighter! Therefore, no aggression can stop the desire to be free, and no war can stop the heart of an artist from creating beauty.
I am open to project collaborations, and if you are inspired by examples from my portfolio, there is a high likelihood that we will agree on the direction of the project, design, or marketing campaign.
Design can be art. Design can be aesthetics. Design is so simple, that’s why it is so complicated.
